Canadian GP - Race

Michael Schumacher wins the Canadian Grand Prix ahead of David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello. Kimi Raikkonen, Giancarlo Fisichella and Jarno Trulli make the top 6.
Ralf Schumacher suffers and engine failure just after crossing the line. He will be classified 7th just outside the points!

Olivier Panis, Felipe Massa, Takuma Sato, Mark Webber, Nick Heidfeld, Heinz Harald Frentzen and Alex Yoong.

Final Lap: Michael Schumacher continues to slow down but he appears to be just easing as this is the final lap.

Lap 69: Michael Schumacher continues to ease with the gap to Coulthard down to 4 seconds.

Lap 68: Ralf Schumacher pushing too hard chasing Trulli locks up and runs wide.

Lap 66: Barrichello still trying to pass Coulthard but without success.

Lap 57: Montoya retires with an engine failure. His second in a row!

Lap 55: Juan Pablo Montoya is lapping at a second faster than Michael at this stage!. He is currently 7 seconds behind. 

Lap 54: Barrichello pits for his second stop. He rejoins in 4th behind McLaren!

Lap 36: Jenson Button pits from 10th. Rejoins in 17th.

Lap 35: Ralf Schumacher remains stuck behind Raikkonen. Coulthard is comfortably ahead of Barrichello.

Lap 34: Michael leads Montoya by over 20 seconds.

Lap 32: Mika Salo is penalised for pit lane speeding. He gets a drive through penalty.

Lap 31: Pedro de la Rosa slows and retires.

Lap 30: Montoya lapping over a second slower than Michael this lap. Frentzen pits and rejoins after a long stop.

Lap 29: Order - M Schumacher, Montoya, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Barrichello, Heidfeld, Fisichella, Trulli, Button.

Lap 28: Michael Schumacher leads Montoya by 14 seconds. Raikkonen is 3rd.

Lap 27: Barrichello is pushing Coulthard. McNish pits for his first stop.

Lap 26: Rubens Barrichello rejoins in 6th behind Coulthard.

Lap 25: Mika Salo pits from 10th. He is clearly on a 2 stoppers. 

Lap 24: Barrichello continues to increase the lead to Michael. 

Lap 23: Barrichello leads Michael Schumacher by 4 seconds. Montoya is now 11 seconds behind.

Lap 22: Order - Barrichello, M Schumacher, Montoya, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Fisichella, Trulli and Salo.

Lap 21: Barrichello sets the fastest lap of the race so far with a time of 1:16.100.

Lap 20: Barrichello leads Michael Schumacher by 1.8 seconds. Montoya is 7 seconds behind Barrichello.

Lap 19: Ralf Schumacher still stuck behind Raikkonen trying to pass without success.

Lap 18: Juan Pablo Montoya managed to pass both Raikkonen and Ralf Schumacher in a superb move!

Lap 17: Race restart - Barrichello leads ahead of Michael Schumacher. Raikkonen is 3rd ahead of Ralf Schumacher and Montoya.

Lap 16: Bernoldi returns to the track.

Lap 16: Bernoldi returns to the pits. He seems to have a problem with his right rear wheel.

Lap 16: Order - Barrichello, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Fisichella, Trulli and Button.

Lap 15: Villeneuve's car is being removed. Bernoldi has stopped.

Lap 14: Montoya pits! This is a strategic move as the safety car is deployed. Montoya returns to the track and is in 5th place.

Lap 13: Safety car deployed!

Lap 12: Safety car could be introduced if the marshals can't move Villeneuve's car.

Lap 12: Barrichello leads Montoya by 3.8 seconds.

Lap 11: Ralf Schumacher trying hard to get past Raikkonen without success.

Lap 10: Juan Pablo Montoya pushing hard. He locks up and cuts the chicane!

Lap 9: Jacques Villeneuve retires!

Lap 8: Order - Barrichello, Montoya, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Fisichella, Trulli and Button. No retirements.

Lap 7: Barrichello leads Montoya by over 2 seconds.

Lap 6: And Takuma Sato passes Panis for 13th.

Lap 6: Mika Salo takes 11th from Villeneuve. Salo could be on a 2 stopper.

Lap 5: Barrichello leads by 1.5 seconds. Michael is 3.9 seconds behind.

Lap 4: Sato attempting to overtake Panis for 13th.

Lap 3: Barrichello leads Montoya by 1.1 seconds. Michael Schumacher 2.8 seconds behind Rubens..

Lap 2: Order - Barrichello, Montoya, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Heidfeld, Fisichella, Trulli and Button.

Lap 1: Rubens Barrichello takes the lead from Montoya. He is clearly on a 2 stopper.

Race start - Raikkonen 4th ahead of Ralf Schumacher.

Race start - Montoya remains in the lead with Barrichello taking second from Michael!

Formation lap underway! - All cars get away cleanly.

Expect a lot of overtaking particularly as some drivers will opt for a 2 stop strategy benefiting from a lighter fuel load. Reliability is key here too and a number of cars will suffer from brake problems and that will affect their performance. Formation lap in 2 minutes.

The start of the race will be very exciting with Montoya starting in Pole and Michael next to him, add to that the first corner chicane. Formation lap in 5 minutes.

The pit lane has now closed and all the cars are parked on the grid ready for the race. Formation lap in 10 minutes.

The Ferraris were very fast this morning in the warm-up session possibly indicating a 2 stop strategy. That will make things even more interesting. Formation lap in 15 minutes.

Juan Pablo Montoya starts from Pole for the second race in a row. Michael Schumacher is alongside him with Rubens Barrichello in 3rd and Ralf Schumacher in 4th.
Kimi Raikkonen starts from 5th with Giancarlo Fisichella in 6th. Formation lap in 20 minutes.
