Michael Schumacher wins the race ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and David Coulthard. Juan Pablo Montoya, Ralf Schumacher and Jenson Button make the top 6.
Heidfeld, Webber, de la Rosa, Yoong and McNish make the rest of the field.
Retirements: Barrichello, Sato, Panis, Villeneuve, Salo, Trulli, Massa and Irvine.

Lap 69: Michael Schumacher leads by 1.1 seconds. He may have passed Raikkonen under waved yellows though ?

Lap 66: Raikkonen now just a second ahead of Michael. Coulthard in 3rd 10 seconds off the lead while Montoya is now 33 seconds behind clearly struggling! 

Lap 65: Raikkonen about to lap de la Rosa. Michael closes in! 

Lap 64: Michael Schumacher has closed the gap slightly. Now 1.2 seconds behind Kimi. 

Lap 63: Raikkonen leads Michael by 1.5 seconds. Coulthard is in 3rd 9 seconds behind Michael. 

Lap 62: Another fastest lap from Coulthard, this time a 1:15.045. He is 9 seconds behind Michael. 

Lap 62: Meanwhile Montoya is lapping around 2 seconds slower! 

Lap 61: Coulthard is still flying. He puts the fastest lap of the race so far with a 1:15.052. 

Lap 61: Jenson Button pits for his 3rd stop and retains 6th place.

Lap 57: Raikkonen leads Michael by 1.8 seconds. Coulthard just 0.3 seconds behind Michael! 

Lap 56: Coulthard under investigation for crossing the line but his closing in on Michael! 

Lap 55/72: Top 10 - Raikkonen, M Schumacher, Coulthard, Montoya, R Schumacher, Button, Heidfeld, Webber, de la Rosa and McNish. Retirements: Barrichello, Sato, Panis, Villeneuve, Salo, Trulli, Massa, Irvine. 

Lap 54: Coulthard pits .... 7.7 seconds ... rejoins in 3rd behind Michael but crosses the white line!

Lap 53: Irvine in the gravel. Looks like he lost his rear wing. McLaren crew ready for Coulthard.

Lap 53: David Coulthard sets the fastest lap of the race so far with a 1:15.159. He has yet to stop.

Lap 52: Montoya isn't lapping as fast as the leaders now!. 

Lap 51: Felipe Massa retires in the pits. 

Lap 51/72: Top 10 - Coulthard, Raikkonen, M Schumacher, Montoya, R Schumacher, Button, Irvine, Heidfeld, Webber and de la Rosa. Retirements: Barrichello, Sato, Panis, Villeneuve, Salo, Trulli. 

Lap 50: Salo retires with an engine problem and Trulli retires as well! 

Lap 50: Kimi Raikkonen pits .... 8.7 seconds ... rejoins in second behind Coulthard who has yet to stop. 

Lap 49: Ralf Schumacher serves his drive through penalty and on his way back on the track he touches the line again!

Lap 49: Michael Schumacher now pits .. and he is ahead of Montoya.

Lap 48: Ralf Schumacher gets a drive through penalty!.

Lap 47: Raikkonen leads Michael by 0.9 seconds. Coulthard in now in 3rd and 4.5 seconds behind his team-mate.

Lap 46: Stewards investigating Ralf Schumacher for crossing the white line. Ferrari crew return.

Lap 45: Ferrari ready ...

Lap 44: Ralf Schumacher pits .... 9.6 seconds and on his way out he touches the white line! Rejoins in 5th.

Lap 43: Montoya pits ... 11.6 seconds and rejoins in 5th! Looks like he is planning for a long third stint and hoping the Raikkonen will keep Michael behind ?

Lap 42: Williams pit crew ready! 

Lap 42: The top 3 are now about to lap Webber in 11th. Montoya ahead of Raikkonen by 0.5 seconds. 

Lap 41: Michael Schumacher tries to pass Raikkonen while the 2 were trying to pass McNish but fails and locks up. 

Lap 40: We have a very tight race with the top 5 just separated by 4.4 seconds. 

Lap 39: Montoya increases his lead to 1 second over Raikkonen. 

Lap 38: Mark Webber is in 11th sandwiched between the 2 Toyotas. He is running strongly this weekend. 

Lap 37: Montoya is 0.9 seconds ahead of Raikkonen with Michael Schumacher 1.7 seconds behind. 

Lap 36: Villeneuve retires with an engine failure. He was using the latest Honda evolution! 

Lap 36/72: Top 10 - Montoya, Raikkonen, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Coutlhard, Button, Trulli, Irvine, Heidfeld and Villeneuve. Retirements: Barrichello, Sato and Panis. 

Lap 35: Michael goes into the pits for his penalty ...  and rejoins in 3rd!

Lap 33: Michael's current lead is 6 seconds. He'll rejoin most likely in 5th. 

Lap 33: Michael Schumacher gets a drive through penalty for crossing the white line exiting the pits. 

Lap 32: Olivier Panis pits and retires. 

Lap 31: Michael leads Montoya by 5 seconds. Montoya is just holding Raikkonen! 

Lap 30/72: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Montoya, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coutlhard, Button, Trulli, Irvine, Heidfeld and Villeneuve. Retirements: Barrichello and Sato. 

Lap 29: Michael extends his lead over Montoya to 4 seconds. Michael Schumacher appeared to have crossed the white line on his way out of the pits and the stewards are investigating!

Lap 28: David Coulthard pits and Michael takes the lead. Coulthard rejoins in 5th behind Ralf. Coulthard had a long stop taking more fuel.

Lap 27: Kimi Raikkonen pits. Coulthard now takes the lead. Raikkonen rejoins behind Montoya.

Lap 26: Michael Schumacher pits!. Raikkonen leads. Michael rejoins ahead of Montoya!

Lap 25: Michael Schumacher now pushing hard. He sets the fastest lap so far with a 1:15.311.

Lap 24: And Juan Pablo Montoya now pits. He rejoins in 4th!. Takuma Sato goes off and retires in the gravel.

Lap 23: David Coulthard sets the fastest lap of the race with a 1:15.564! . Ralf Schumacher pits.

Lap 22: Panis pits. Looks like a number of drivers have opted for a three stopper or perhaps just a short first stint? 

Lap 21: Jarno Trulli pits and so does Yoong and Irvine. 

Lap 20: Jenson Button rejoins in 9th. Villeneuve pits. 

Lap 20: Jenson Button pits. He is likely on a 3 stopper! 

Lap 19: Montoya about to lap Yoong! 

Lap 18/72: Top 10 - Montoya, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coutlhard, Button, Trulli, Irvine, Heidfeld and Salo. Retirements: Barrichello 

Lap 17: The top 3 have bunched up again with Montoya just 0.6 of a second ahead of Michael with Raikkonen 1.8 seconds behind Montoya.

Lap 16: Kimi Raikkonen goes even faster with a 1:15.933.

Lap 15: And Michael Schumacher responds but going faster with a 1:16.113.

Lap 14: Raikkonen puts the fastest lap so far with a 1:16.170.

Lap 13: Jacques Villeneuve in 12th tries to pass McNish in 12th but fails and locks up. They both retain their positions.

Lap 13: Felipe Massa is now back in 16th after his second penalty. 

Lap 12: Juan Pablo Montoya increased his lead to 0.9 seconds. Raikkonen is pulling back slightly now 1.9 seconds behind the lead. 

Lap 12: Juan Pablo Montoya puts in the fastest lap of the race so far with a 1:16.209. 

Lap 11/72: Top 10 - Montoya, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coutlhard, Button, Trulli, Irvine, Heidfeld and Salo. Retirements: Barrichello 

Lap 10: Felipe Massa gets another penalty! This time for going over the white line at the pit lane exit. 

Lap 9: Juan Pablo Montoya is 0.8 seconds ahead of Michael Schumacher who is 0.7 seconds ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.  

Lap 8: Mark Webber is up in 14th place!. His team-mate Yoong is in 17th and has just had a spin! 

Lap 7: Felipe Massa goes through the pits for his jump start penalty. He rejoins in 15th. 

Lap 6: Olivier Panis is flying after having to pit for a new wing. He is a lap down in 18th. 

Lap 5: Kimi Raikkonen is keeping up with the 2 in front just 0.4 seconds behind Michael. Impressive! 

Lap 4/72: Top 10 - Montoya, M Schumacher, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coutlhard, Button, Massa, Trulli, Irvine and Heidfeld. Retirements: Barrichello 

Lap 3: The top 3 are very close, Montoya is holding everyone up. Massa in 7th gets a jump start penalty.  

Lap 2: Michael Schumacher gets alongside Montoya but fails to pass and Kimi Raikkonen gets through but Michael takes his place back. 

Lap 1: Looks like Panis and Sato have touched. Panis pits for a new front wing. 

Lap 1: Michael Schumacher pushing Montoya very hard but is unable to pass. Barrichello retires!. 

Race Start .... Montoya gets a good start and retains the lead. Michael in second with Raikkonen in 3rd. Ralf Schumacher 4th ahead of Coulthard and Button. 

Race Start .... lights ... GO ....

Formation lap underway ... second race in a row for Barrichello to have a problem. The Ferrari mechanics are trying to get Barrichello going. They are now pushing him into the pit lane!

Top 10 Grid - Montoya, M Schumacher, Barrichello, Raikkonen, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Button, Trulli, Irvine and Heidfeld. Formation lap in 2 minutes. 

Michael Schumacher can clinch the title today if he wins the race and provided neither Barrichello nor Montoya finish in second. Air temperature is now at 25 degrees. Formation lap in 5 minutes. 

There is a bit of cloud cover which means that the track temperatures won't be as high as they were yesterday. This in theory should benefit the Bridgestone runners however given the nature of this track small changes in track temperatures affects the car setup and some teams will struggle regardless of their tyres. Formation lap in 8 minutes. 

19 cars will take part in today's race after the 2 Arrows didn't qualify as a result of their financial problems while Fisichella was advised not to race after his high speed crash during the second practice session on Saturday. Eddie Jordan managed to get a clearance by the stewards to allow Arrows' driver Heinz Harald Frentzen to drive for the team but due to complicated legal issues, Frentzen declined the offer. Frentzen was fired by Eddie Jordan a year ago!. Formation lap in 15 minutes. The pit exit has closed and all the cars are on the grid.

Rubens Barrichello is in 3rd with Kimi Raikkonen alongside him while Ralf Schumacher is in 5th spot on the grid with David Coulthard next to him. Under half a second separated the top 6 in Qualifying. Tyres and strategy will certainly play a crucial role in the race. Formation lap in 18 minutes.

Juan Pablo Montoya continued his stunning form in Qualifying taking his 5th Pole position in a row. Next to him will be Michael Schumacher who was stunning this morning in the warm-up session. Formation lap in 20 minutes.

The pit exit has opened and the drivers have 15 minutes to take their grid positions. Drivers can do a few installation laps by entering the pit lane but they have to be out of the pit lane 15 minutes before the race. Formation lap in 25 minutes.
