Spanish GP - 1st Saturday Practice

Final Order: Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Ralf Schumacher, Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa make the top 6.
Raikkonen, Button, Montoya, Bernoldi, Panis, Frentzen, Villeneuve, Fisichella, Trulli, Sato, Salo, de la Rosa, Irvine, McNish, Webber and Yoong make the rest of the field.

45 min: Session over, a few drivers have yet to complete their flyers.

44 min: Nick Heidfeld again improves but remains in 5th.

43 min: Final run this session!

42 min: Michael Schumacher improves but remains in 2nd he is still 0.386 seconds behind his team-mate. Juan Pablo Montoya moves into 9th.

41 min: Button improves his time but remains in 8th. Trulli though is down in 15th.

40 min: At the back we have Sato in 16th, Salo in 17th, de la Rosa in 18th, Irvine in 19th, McNish in 20th and the 2 Minardis in 21st and 22nd. Only those 7 drivers are over 3 seconds off the pace.

38 min: Jacques Villeneuve improves his time but not his position. Remains in 13th.

38 min: Takuma Sato has covered the most number of laps with 13 so far.

36 min: Heidfeld moves into 5th just ahead of his team-mate.

35 min: 10 minutes remaining in this 45 minute session. Yoong improves but remains in 22nd place and just under a second slower than his team-mate.

34 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, M Schumacher, Coulthard, R Schumacher, Massa, Raikkonen, Button, Bernoldi, Heidfeld and Panis. 

33 min: All drivers have set times. 

32 min: Coulthard moves into 3rd with a time of 1:19.075. Panis takes 10th while Frentzen is in 11th.

32 min: Frentzen, Coulthard and Panis are on their first timed laps.

31 min: Rubens Barrichello goes fastest with a time of 1:18.048. He is 0.4 seconds ahead of Michael!

30 min: Felipe Massa continues to impress on this track as he moves into 3rd. Barrichello flying!

29 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Raikkonen, Button, Heidfeld, Bernoldi, Montoya, Villeneuve and Fisichella.

28 min: Raikkonen moves into 3rd and Button into 4th.

27 min: Montoya moves into 5th. Raikkonen and Button on track

26 min: Ralf Schumacher jumps into second with a time of 1:19.412. Sato spins but recovers. Montoya on a timed lap.

25 min: Heidfeld moves into second, Fisichella slots in behind Villeneuve and Trulli goes behind Fisichella.

25 min: A lot of cars on their way to set lap times.

24 min: Michael Schumacher shoots to the top of the timesheets with a 1:18.478. Superb and faster than the best time set during this session last year.

23 min: Jacques Villeneuve moves into second while Pedro de la Rosa is in 4th. Both with times better than their best yesterday.

22 min: Eddie Irvine moves into 5th with a time of 1:22.206. That is almost a second slower than his best time yesterday. Michael Schumacher on track.

22 min: Pedro de la Rosa is also on the track. 

21 min: Eddie Irvine and Jacques Villeneuve are back on the track. 

20 min: Drama for McNish as he attempts a start at the pit lane exit but stalls. 

19 min: Only 5 drivers have set competitive times so far. Eddie Irvine set a time but is over 10 seconds off the pace. 

18 min: Session restarted 

18 min: Session stopped. Restarting shortly after the debris from Mark Webber's Minardi is cleared.  

18 min: Session stopped. Bernoldi's first time is over 0.8 seconds faster than his best time yesterday. Arrows are looking good! 

18 min: Session stopped. Top 5 - Bernoldi, Sato, McNish, Webber and Yoong. 

18 min: Session stopped. It seems that Mark Webber lost his front wing. He managed to control the car! 

18 min: Bernoldi sets the fastest time so far with a 1:20.030. Debris on the main straight! 

17 min: Bernoldi flying! 

16 min: Mark Webber moves into 3rd with a time of 1:22.152. That is faster than his best yesterday. 

15 min: Takuma Sato improves in first with a 1:21.072. Bernoldi on the track. 

15 min: Yoong is slowly improving his time. His best is now 1:23.987. That still remains slower than his best yesterday. 

14 min: Mark Webber on the track. 

14 min: Sato improves in 1st with a time of 1:21.219. Only 3 drivers have set times so far. 

13 min: Yoong improves with a 1:24.091 but remains in 3rd. 

12 min: Takuma Sato goes fastest with a time of 1:21.275, that is faster than his best time yesterday. 

11 min: Alex Yoong set a time of 1:24.898. That is slower than his best time yesterday! 

10 min: Allan McNish sets a time of 1:21.725. That is faster than his best time yesterday. 

9 min: And Sato is also back on the track. McNish starts his first timed lap. 

8 min: Alex Yoong follows. 

7 min: Allan McNish is the first to go out on the track for the second time. He was 21st yesterday. 

5 min: No cars have gone back out for longer runs yet. 

4 min: Adrian Newey yesterday thought that this track suits Bridgestone more than Michelin. There was only 3 cars in the top 10 yesterday running Michelins. 

3 min: Both Ferraris and Montoya go out on the track for their installation lap.

2 min: The cars are arriving back in the pits after completing their installation lap.

1 min: The Williams were not competitive yesterday with Ralf in 15th and Juan Pablo in 17th. Gerhard Berger admitted that they won't be fighting for Pole here.

Session underway and a number of cars are already out on the track lead by Takuma Sato.

Jenson Button was 3rd fastest yesterday and the Renault seems to be going from strength to strength. Button was the fastest Michelin runner yesterday Raikkonen in the McLaren was the next best Michelin runner in 7th..Session starting in 2 minutes.

Michael Schumacher was fastest during the Friday practice sessions but the biggest surprise was Heinz Harald Frentzen who was just 0.07 seconds behind Michael. Although many believe he was running a Qualifying setup, team boss Tom Walkinshaw said that the time set was in race trim. We'll see today if Arrows keep it up and if they do, it will be a major surprise. Session starting in 5 minutes.
