45 min: Coulthard retakes 4th from Ralf Schumacher. Irvine suffers a problem and cruises on the track while Ricardo Zonta takes 8th place from his team-mate Jacques Villeneuve.

44 min: Hakkinen goes back out on track for his last run and so does Michael Schumacher. Villeneuve improves but is still in 8th.

42 min: 3 minutes to go and Ralf Schumacher moves into 4th place. Barrichello improves but remains in 3rd.

40 min: Trulli moves into 11th place. Frentzen still in 19th place without improving his time from the first session.

38 min: A lot of drivers on track. Coulthard improves but remains in 4th.

35 min: 10 minutes to go and the drivers will now go through their final preparations for qualifying. Fisichella improves but remains in 7th place.

33 min: Ralf Schumacher and Jenson Button are trading 5th and 6th just over half a second off the pace.

31 min: Top 6 - Michael Schumacher ahead of Hakkinen and Barrichello. Coulthard, Jenson Button and Ralf Schumacher make the top 6. Trulli in 17th after his first timed lap.

26 min: Alexander Wurz goes out on the track but suffers another problem and stops the car on the track. No practice for Wurz before qualifying!
