Ralf Schumacher wins the Canadian GP ahead of Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen. Kimi Raikkonen, Jean Alesi and Pedro de la Rosa make the top 6. Only 9 cars finish the race.

Lap 67: Jos Verstappen spins and crashes possibly due to a brake problem. de la Rosa is in the points.

Lap 23: Safety car in and the race is about to resume

Lap 22: Safety car still on the track but the 2 cars of Montoya and Barrichello have been cleared.

Lap 21: With the safety car, the gap the 2 Schumacher's have built to David Coulthard has disappeared. It is still thought that Coulthard is off the pace as he was lapping a lot slower than Michael or Ralf.

Lap 20: Jenson Button pits for the 3rd time and retires. Safety car on track.

Lap 19: Montoya makes a  mistake and hits the wall while Barrichello trying to avoid him crashes and both retire. The safety car is on the track.

Lap 18: Trulli in 4th is under a second behind Coulthard. The McLaren seems to lack the expected pace here. Hakkinen is in 9th and not making an impression.

Lap 18: Ralf Schumacher sets the fastest lap of the race so far and the gap to Michael is down to 0.4 seconds.

Lap 17: Order: M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Trulli, Panis, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Zonta, Hakkinen and Montoya. Barrichello is in 11th place after his spin.

Lap 17: David Coulthard is not increasing his gap to Jarno Trulli. Coulthard is now 11 seconds behind Michael.

Lap 16: Barrichello is still behind Montoya who is stuck behind Hakkinen in 9th.

Lap 16: Michael Schumacher responds and the gap is back to just over half a second.

Lap 15: It appears that at this stage the race is between the 2 Schumacher brothers.

Lap 14: Ralf Schumacher is now hassling his brother for the lead. Only 0.4 seconds behind him.

Lap 13: Barrichello is now behind Juan Pablo Montoya who is behind Mika Hakkinen. Ralf Schumacher sets the fastest lap of the race.

Lap 12: Michael Schumacher leads his brother by 1.1 seconds. Coulthard in 3rd is 10 seconds behind. Barrichello sets the fastest lap of the race.

Lap 11: Rubens Barrichello is making up positions after spinning. He is now in 11th place. It is believed that he is on a 2 stop strategy.

Lap 10: Verstappen in 6th is closing in on Panis.

Lap 9: Fernando Alonso retires with a mechanical problem.

Lap 9: Retirements so far: Fisichella (after touching his team-mate Button). Heidfeld and Irvine (touched).

Lap 8: Order: M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Coulthard, Trulli, Panis, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Zonta, Hakkinen and Montoya. Barrichello is in 14th place after his spin.

Lap 8: Olivier Panis is closing on Jarno Trulli. The gap is just 0.64 seconds.

Lap 7: Michael Schumacher leads Ralf Schumacher by 1.1 seconds. Jenson Button gets a stop-go penalty for jumping the start.

Lap 5: Rubens Barrichello loses it trying to pass Ralf Schumacher. He continues but loses a number of places.

Lap 4: Order: M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Barrichello, Coulthard, Trulli, Panis, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Zonta and Hakkinen.

Lap 4: Michael Schumacher leads Ralf Schumacher by 0.892 seconds. Barrichello is catching Ralf Schumacher.

Lap 3: Barrichello overtakes Coulthard for 3rd place.

Lap 2: Eddie Irvine and Nick Heidfeld touch and both retire.

Lap 1: Michael Schumacher leads ahead of Ralf Schumacher and David Coulthard. Barrichello, Trulli and Panis makes the top 6. Fisichella pits with a damaged front.

Race start: Michael Schumacher leads ahead of Ralf Schumacher and David Coulthard. No accidents at the start.

The first corner at this track has caused a number of accident in the past. 2 years ago there was a big accident and 3 cars retired forcing the safety car on the track. Formation lap in 5 minutes.

Michael Schumacher dominated qualifying yesterday ahead of his brother Ralf Schumacher and David Coulthard. If he performs as well as he did in qualifying, he will be hard to beat. Formation lap in 10 minutes.

Villeneuve and Montoya have clashed during the drivers' briefing and they have been warned of any further clashes. The will be starting the race from 9th and 10th positions on the grid respectively. It will be interesting!. Pit lane has now closed.

The drivers are going out of their garages for a final few laps before they finally stop on their grid position in preparation for the formation lap. Pit lane closes in 5 minutes.
