Fastest from the 1st Friday practice in 2000 - Michael Schumacher - 1:43.532

German GP - 1st Friday Practice:

Rubens Barrichello sets the fastest time of the session ahead of Pedro de la Rosa and David Coulthard. Michael Schumacher, Ralf Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen make the top 6.

60 min: Giancarlo Fisichella improves to 9th place ahead of Jarno Trulli.

60 min: Jacques Villeneuve improves to 14th place just ahead of his team-mate Olivier Panis.

58 min: The times are not improving as most of the teams continue with their race set-up testing.

56 min: The Ferrari and McLaren teams have not covered a lot of laps this morning.

55 min: With 5 minutes to go, Montoya has covered the most number of laps with 17. He is currently in 7th place, 1.2 seconds off the pace.

53 min: Barrichello is the only driver to set a time under the 1:42 mark so far.

52 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, de la Rosa, Coulthard, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Hakkinen, Montoya, Irvine, Trulli and Fisichella.

51 min: At this stage there are 5 Michelin runners in the top 10. 

50 min: Rubens Barrichello retakes the lead for de la Rosa with a time of 1:41.953. 

48 min: Pedro de la Rosa fastest !!, his time was 1:42.302. Is he on a light fuel load or have they really improved ?

47 min: Both Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard have put in fast laps but haven't managed to improve on their overall times.

46 min: Jacques Villeneuve moves back ahead of Jenson Button in 17th place.

45 min: Burti and Alonso (in 19th and 20th) have covered the most number of laps so far with 12 each.

44 min: 4 drivers so far have set times under the 1:43 mark (Barrichello, Coulthard and the 2 Schumachers)

43 min: Jarno Trulli moves into 8th place while Giancarlo Fisichella moves into the top 10. 

42 min: Eddie Irvine in the Jaguar is certainly impressive in 7th place under a second off the pace.

41 min: Jenson Button improves to 17th ahead of Villeneuve!

40 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, Coulthard, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Hakkinen, Montoya, Irvine, Trulli, de la Rosa and Zonta.

38 min: Ricardo Zonta moves into 10th place from 12th with a time of 1:44.333. He is a couple of places behind Jarno Trulli.

37 min: Giancarlo Fisichella moves straight into 13th place with a time of 1:44.657. Jenson Button is in 18th place.

36 min: Pedro de la Rosa improves to 9th place. His team-mate Eddie Irvine is in 7th.

35 min: Giancarlo Fisichella is finally on the track.

33 min: Giancarlo Fisichella has yet to set a time. Jos Verstappen will not set a time this session after he stopped on the track.

31 min: Mika Hakkinen moves improves to 5th place with a time of 1:43.160.

29 min: David Coulthard improves to second place with a time of 1:42.621

27 min: Mika Hakkinen sets his first time with a 1:44.028 and moves into 7th place. 

26 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Montoya, Irvine, Coulthard, Trulli, Heidfeld, Raikkonen and Panis. 

Ferrari have confirmed that they will be using the Qualifying engine they used at Silverstone for the race here at Hockenheim following their successful test at Monza last week. This should give them more power on a track that certainly needs that! Session starting in 2 minutes.
