Hungarian GP - 1st Saturday Practice Session:

Michael Schumacher sets the fastest time of the session ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Mika Hakkinen. Coulthard, Heidfeld, R Schumacher, Panis, Frentzen, Montoya and Raikkonen make the top 10.

45 min: Jarno Trulli improves but remains in 8th behind Panis.

45 min: Juan Pablo Montoya improves to 9th with a time of 1:17.191. He is under half a second behind his team-mate Ralf Schumacher.

44 min: Final run for this session.

43 min: Ralf Schumacher improves but remains in 6th place. Clearly the Williams are off the pace on this track.

42 min: Jean Alesi is finally back on the track and improves to 13th. Barrichello retakes second from Hakkinen.

41 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Hakkinen, Barrichello, Coulthard, Heidfeld, R Schumacher, Panis, Trulli, Raikkonen and de la Rosa.

40 min: Jacques Villeneuve improves to 13th place. Still almost a second slower than his team-mate Panis.

39 min: Jean Alesi seems to be having a problem. He only covered 4 laps so far. Just over 5 minutes remaining.

38 min: Nick Heidfeld in the much improved Sauber moves to 5th and takes the best of the rest spot.

37 min: Mika Hakkinen splits the 2 Ferraris and takes second.

36 min: Jarno Trulli moves into 7th place just behind Panis.

35 min: Not much activity on the track with 10 minutes to go.

33 min: Jacques Villeneuve appears to still be struggling in his BAR down in 15th place

32 min: Olivier Panis moves into 6th place with a time of 1:16.941 just behind Ralf Schumacher

31 min: All the drivers have set timed laps. Fernando Alonso has covered the most laps so far with 13.

30 min: Top 10 - M Schumacher, Barrichello, Coulthard, Hakkinen, R Schumacher, Heidfeld, Raikkonen, de la Rosa, Fisichella and Montoya.

29 min: Rubens Barrichello jumps into second with a time of 1:16.148.

28 min: Juan Pablo Montoya moves into 8th with a time of 1:17.584. Barrichello on track.

27 min: Amazing! - Michael Schumacher goes fastest with a time of 1:15.466. That is 0.74 seconds faster than Coulthard

26 min: Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya are on the track. Barrichello has yet to come out.

25 min: Giancarlo Fisichella moves into 6th place with a time of 1:17.551. Benetton seem to be competitive here.

24 min: Top 10 - Coulthard, Hakkinen, R Schumacher, Raikkonen, Heidfeld, Button, Alesi, de la Rosa, Villeneuve and Frentzen.

23 min: Mika Hakkinen moves into second place with a time of 1:17.115. Jean Alesi is in 4th with a time of 1:18.720.

22 min: Ralf Schumacher, the 2 Saubers and Fisichella are on the track. The 2 Ferrari's have yet to set a time!

21 min: Jacques Villeneuve moves into 4th with a time of 1:18.924. Jean Alesi on the track.

20 min: Jenson Button moves into second with a time of 1:18.565. Over 2 seconds off the pace!

19 min: David Coulthard is on fire. He tops the timesheets with a time of 1:16.204. That is over 0.4 seconds faster than the best time set yesterday!

18 min: Frentzen moves into second with a time of 1:18.998. Button, Villeneuve and Hakkinen go out on their first timed laps.

17 min: David Coulthard appears on the track after missing all of the second Friday practice session.

16 min: Pedro de la Rosa tops the timesheets with a time of 1:18.791. The time are still slower than yesterdays times.

15 min: Top 6 - Irvine, Frentzen, de la Rosa, Alonso, Bernoldi and Burti.

14 min: Heinz Harald Frentzen moves into second with a time of 1:19.434. His team-mate Burti sets a time of 1:20.617.

13 min: Eddie Irvine takes more than a second off his best time with a 1:19.082. Pedro de la Rosa goes out on the track.

12 min: Heinz Harald Frentzen is on the track and so is Luciano Burti.

11 min: Eddie Irvine moves top the top of the timesheets with a time of 1:20.264. The times are slower than yesterday so far.

9 min: Enrique Bernoldi follows with a time of 1:20.621. 

8 min: Fernando Alonso sets the first time of the session with a 1:20.409.

7 min: Tarso Marques and Eddie Irvine follow.

6 min: Fernando Alonso and Enrique Bernoldi are the first out on their timed laps.

5 min: No one has come out following their installation lap.

3 min: Rubens Barrichello is the last to go out on his installation lap.

1 min: Most of the cars are on the track for their installation lap.

The Michelin tyres appeared to perform a lot better during the second session as a result of a warmer track and more grip due to the rubber being laid. 3 Michelin runners were in the top 10 (R Schumacher, Irvine and Fisichella) compared to just 1 in the first session (R Schumacher).  Session starting in 5 minutes

Michael Schumacher dominated both of the practice sessions on Friday although Rubens Barrichello and Mika Hakkinen closed the gap during the second session considerably. At the end of the second session the 3 were separated by just 0.138 seconds. Session starting in 10 minutes
