Canadian GP - 1st Saturday Practice Session

Final order: Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, Ralf Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Kimi Raikkonen and Heinz Harald Frentzen make the top 6.
Panis, Massa, Coulthard, Villeneuve, Heidfeld, Fisichella, Trulli, McNish, Bernoldi, Salo, Button, de la Rosa, Sato, Irvine, Webber and Yoong make the rest of the field.

40 min: And Barrichello improves again with a 1:14.788. Montoya on a flyer! 

38 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, Raikkonen, Montoya, Panis, Heidfeld, Frentzen, Coulthard, Massa, Fisichella and M Schumacher.
Ralf Schumacher is back in 18th place with only 6 laps. 

36 min: Rubens Barrichello moves back to the top of the timesheets with a time of 1:14.926!

35 min: Panis moves into 4th with a time of 1:15.518 while Heidfeld takes 5th..

34 min: Interestingly Michael Schumacher has covered the most number of laps so far with 16. He is deciding on which type of tyre to use for qualifying and the race.

33 min: No improvements at the top at this stage.

30 min: Raikkonen goes fastest and Montoya moves into second.

29 min: BAR are currently in 6th and 7th while Jordan are back in 18th and 19th!

28 min: Top 10 - Barrichello, Frentzen, Coulthard, Massa, Montoya, Panis, Villeneuve, Heidfeld, Button and Trulli. At the moment, 6 runners in the top 10 are on Bridgestones.

27 min: And Felipe Massa takes 4th with a time of 1:15.763. Raikkonen spins but recovers.

23 min: David Coulthard goes straight to the top of the timesheets with a time of 1:15.714.

22 min: Jarno Trulli moves into second with a time of 1:16.716. That is more promising from the Renault team.

21 min: And Montoya improves again with a 1:15.956. Stunning!

20 min: Top 10 - Montoya, R Schumacher, M Schumacher, Bernoldi, Sato, Webber, de la Rosa, McNish, Fisichella and Yoong.

19 min: It appears that the Williams are strong even on a relatively cold track. Barrichello on track.

18 min: And Montoya replies straight away with a fastest time of 1:16.240.

17 min: Ralf Schumacher goes fastest with a 1:16.736. Lets see what Montoya will do!

16 min: Michael Schumacher improves to 1:17.793 while Enrique Bernoldi goes second with a 1:17.890!

15 min: Mark Webber goes 3rd with a 1:19.549. More drivers join the field with Montoya and Fisichella.

14 min: Takuma Sato goes 3rd with a time of 1:20.510. Webber starts his first flyer.

13 min: Michael Schumacher improves with a 1:18.319. Still almost 3 seconds slower than the best time from yesterday. Ralf Schumacher and Mark Webber on track.

11 min: Michael Schumacher sets a time of 1:19.246 while Allan McNish improves with a 1:18.831. Takuma Sato and Alex Yoong join in.

10 min: Allan McNish sets the first time of the day with a 1:19.095. Irvine on track as well.

9 min: Allan McNish starts his first flying lap.

8 min: Allan McNish is the first back out on the track and is followed by Michael Schumacher!

7 min: No cars on the track at this stage.

5 min: Rubens Barrichello is the last man to go out on the track for his installation lap. No times set yet.

4 min: Villeneuve is now on the track. He warned yesterday not to expect too much from the heavily revised BAR.

3 min: The cars are now streaming back into the pits.

2 min: Most of the cars are on the track for their installation lap. Only Barrichello and Villeneuve have yet to come out.

1 min: Given the relatively low track temperature, expect the Bridgestone runners to have an edge but as the track temperatures increase, the Michelin runners will start showing their competitiveness.

Session underway and the cars stream out of the pit lane with Webber leading them.

BAR are introducing a new package this weekend and despite both Panis and Villeneuve setting lap times in the top 10, Villeneuve later admitted that they did run on low fuel to test the new package and indicated that he will be very very surprised if they qualified in the top 10!. Session starting in 2 minutes.

Yesterday we saw Ferrari dominate the first practice session in the morning but as the temperatures went up, the Michelin runners fought back with David Coulthard setting the fastest time of the day ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya with Michael Schumacher only managing 3rd fastest. Session starting in 4 minutes.
