Session underway. No cars on the track. Air temperature at 23 degrees. Track temperature at 37.

Ferrari don't appear to be very comfortable here. They have covered a lot of laps in practice, much more than they usually do. This could indicate their struggle with set-up. Add to that Michael Schumacher had a problem during the second session and was seen cruising back to the pits and missed 20 minutes of it. Session starting in 2 minutes.

The strength of Renault here shouldn't be a surprise. They have always had excellent mechanical grip which is required for this kind of track. Add to that their superb traction control system and their wide angled engine which provides a lower centre of gravity and you've got a very competitive car. This is also a track were Trulli has traditionally qualified well at. In 2000 he put the Jordan second on the grid. Session starting in 5 minutes.

A number of drivers crashed during practice, a number of them crashing twice (Raikkonen and Irvine). Several teams have brought 4 cars to this event so that each driver has a spare. Session starting in 8 minutes.

Jarno Trulli's fastest time from this morning was a thousandths of a second faster than the Pole time of last year. Expect Pole time to be around 1.5 seconds faster. Session starting in 10 minutes.

This could be the closest Qualifying session we have witnessed in a long time. Ferrari were quickest in 2 sessions while Renault were quickest in the other 2. The McLarens and Williams were not far behind either. Depending on how much each team has in reserve, the top 10 on the grid for tomorrow's race could contain a few surprises. Session starting in 15 minutes.

Session  starting at 1:00 PM local time. It is partly cloudy with a temperature of 22 degrees.
