‘No panic’ at Ferrari amid crisis – Camilleri

May 15 (GMM) Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri says there is “no panic” at Maranello after a fifth consecutive defeat to Mercedes last weekend.

Sections of the Italian media say the team is in “real crisis” after Ferrari’s engine and car upgrades actually saw the gap to Mercedes blow out in Barcelona.

“There is no panic. My job is to prevent rumours from spreading, so now is the time to close ranks,” Camilleri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Camilleri said team boss Mattia Binotto, who admits even the basic “concept” of the 2019 car is under review, has his “full support”.

“I am sure he will find a solution. Now we are having two important test days and I am sure that we can recover quickly,” he said.

“I do not have a crystal ball so I cannot say when we will find a solution, but I am sure that this testing will help.”

However, he admitted that Monaco next weekend could be another tough race for Ferrari.

“There are a lot of narrow and slow turns similar to the third sector in Barcelona where we had problems all weekend,” said Camilleri.
