Michael Schumacher  sets the fastest time of the session ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher. Juan Pablo Montoya, Nick Heidfeld, Mika Salo, Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa, Giancarlo Fisichella and Jarno Trulli make the top 10.

60 Min: Both Ferraris improve their times with Schumacher retaining the lead.

58 Min: Sato goes farming through the kitty litter - he did not seem to damage anything.

55 Min: Montoya moves into 4th and it is again Ferrari (Schumacher), Ferrari (Barrichello), Williams (Schumacher), Williams (Montoya). The McLaren cars are 7th and 11th. Are they taking it easy or is this a true reflection of their performance?

52 Min: Ralf gets in a good lap moving him up to 3rd and Fisichella's engine gives up in a cloud of smoke.

50 Min: No change due to too many cars on a damp track at present.

47 Min: Barrichello is still in second place, about 1/2 second behind M Schumacher who just achieved his best lap of the day. A surprising third for Salo who has just done a very good lap, Montoya and R Schumacher in 4th and 5th and Heidfeld makes up 6th

45 Min: Less cars on the track now. The rain has slowed the race down so we are unlikely to see improvements on the times.

42 Min: Alex Yoong is off the track and out of the session. It does not appear to have damaged his car but it is firmly stuck in the kitty litter.

40 Min: Montoya is now in 3rd place after a very fast lap. Ralf Schumacher is unlikely to get third back as it has started to rain again.

38 Min: Ralf Schumacher moves into 3rd placing both Williams just behind the Two Ferraris. McLarens on the other hand are only in 6th and 9th.

36 Min: Montoya did it, he is now in 4th

34 Min: Montoya is on a flier

32 Min: Montoya still trying hard but keeps on under steering into brief runs on the grass

30 Min: Halfway through the session M. Schumacher fastest followed by Barrichello, Heidfeld, Montoya and Raikkonen

29 Min: Fisichella is going faster all the time now in 5th place. Rain is threatening

26 Min: Schumacher posts another fastest lap 1.27.971

24 Min: And some rain is back. Raikkonen is the fastest of the McLarens in fourth place

22 Min: Trulli moves into 6th place M Schumacher fastest (1.27.971)

20 Min: Montoya post a fast lap 1.30.289

19 Min: Fisichella does not seem as fast as he was in the first session he is in 8th (1.31.045)

16 Min: Barrichello tries again but is still marginally slower than Schumacher his car obviously did not suffer from the spin.

14 Min: Heidfeld does it again! he is in third place

12 Min: Barrichello is trying too hard. Just had a huge spin but fortunately did not seem to get damaged.Berno;di is out of the session

10 Min: Bernoldi in trouble Sato is flying moving up into 6th place

7 Min: Montoya is increasing his pace but is still barely in the top 10

5 Min: Coulthard now fastest but the two Ferraris are going for it

3 Min: Montoya's turn to leave the track into the grass - no apparent damage

1 Min: Both McLarens and Montoya out on the track
