Jacques Villeneuve is currently one of the best if not the
best driver in F1 today. Most top line drivers after they win the world title want a new
challenge, like Schumacher going to Ferrari in '96 after winning with Benetton, and going
to a team where the possibilities are there if things are done correctly. Jacques has now
spent a year and a half fine tuning the BAR car, now they have Honda engines, next year
they may be winning. Jacques does not want to just finish on the podium, that's where he
will be with Benetton, he wants to win. This is what BAR along with Honda may offer him
next year. Give the BAR one more year, if Pollock gets it together he may have the
surprise package of the year - Robbie - Australia.
He must leave BAR if he is any chance of winning races in
the near future. The top teams today like Williams, McLaren and Jordan didn't win races
overnight. The same thing could be said if he moves to Benetton/Renault but the new team
will have a lot of experience already underneath them. Also the Renault executives would
love to have a French speaking driver much in the same way that Ferrari currently have
Barrichello. Then there is also the corporate image that Benetton has for being colourful
when compared to say McLaren who has a more sedate feel. When you consider all these
factors and also other things like internal fighting in the team, he really only has one
option; to leave BAR, sell off his share in the team and start afresh with
Benetton/Renault - Adam B. - Australia.
The French Grand Prix proved that the Honda motor gave all
the straight line speed BAR needed. Otherwise Ralf had JV's BAR in the corners. It is all
about handling and a move to Benetton might solve JV problems there but what about
integrating the new Renault engine? Unless a ride with mega McLaren
opened or even
Ferrari appears JV should give BAR one more year and see what opens up in 2002 - Mike

In my opinion, Jacques Villeneuve is wasting a lot of his
time at BAR, he should be winning poles and races from right now. I only wish that next
year he will be again in the front, showing everybody his great driving skills. I have a
great feeling that next year Villeneuve will be again a champion only if he leaves BAR to
join McLaren or Benetton Renault... Keep to my word!

Jacques Villeneuve moved to BAR because Craig Pollock his
great friend and mentor was there. In the off season BAR wanted to oust Craig Pollock
and Villeneuve wouldn't let them. Now that the dream is fading I think Villeneuve should
move to Benetton (Renault). They are a stronger team than they look, they have Flavio
Briatore back and they will only get stronger. Renault can help make Villeneuve a champion

I wouldn't say so. Results aren't really that good, but the
car is becoming better every race. Last race has really proved it. JV was sixth in the
qualifying and in the first lap of the race he moved up to third. It has to be a good car
to manage that with a full tank. I also think that Honda engines are fully competitive to
Ferrari and Mercedes. BAR's main problem is downforce. Most of the parts building BAR are
also of a well known origin (Reynard). I may be a Honda fan, but at this time I think it
wouldn't be a really great move to leave BAR. He has already wasted two years why not try
with the third when it's clear that car is improving quite quickly - Rok F.

Yeah, I believe Jacques is a great driver ...true he can be
reckless at times, but on the overall he a competetive and an aggressive person behind the
steering of his car and also gives it his 100 percent when driving in a race. These
qualities in him does not suit the car which he is driving ...the BAR Honda ...at the
moment. As we all know that the BAR is not famous for its reliability as is the Ferrari
and hence this makes it difficult for Villeneuve to complete a race, let alone win it. A
driver of his calibre certainly deserves a better team as he still is capable of producing
victories as was quite evident from the manner in which he drove in Montreal currently - Yatin

Yes. In my opinion, he is the second best driver in the
circuit after Michael Schumacher. Since Coulthard and Hakkinen seem to continue with
McLaren next year, it would be better if he moves to Williams, Benetton or Jordan. A Ralf

I think that Jacques is wasting his time, because he is a
very, I mean a very good driver and he can't win the world championship with a car that BAR

I believe BAR made the decision to recruit JV for economic
reasons and to launch the team, unfortunately their first year has been deeply affected by
under power and reliability. Honda has proven to be a champion and only time and money
will determine how fast BAR will improve their reliability. I would personally like to see

It doesn't appear that Benetton has a car capable of
Villeneuve's ability. Flavio has even admitted as much to the media during the past few
weeks. By the time Benetton provides him with a proper car, the BAR group might have a car

I don't think anyone contradicts the fact that Villeneuve
deserves a better car than BAR. In my opinion, he is the second best driver in the circuit

I don't know what reasons made Jacques Villeneuve go to BAR
but at least now he would have realised that he made a mistake. Formula 1 is not an
individual performance but an absolute team game. A smart driver would always make wise
decisions not only on the race track but also off the track. So I think Jacques should
stop pretending to be a super man and try to be realistic. At least now he has one more
chance and should think about the facts now and make a wise decision - Kiran P. -

Villeneuve should stay with BAR. The team has
improved the car and are now starting to finish races. I would hate to see all the
time he has put in there go to waste by not reaping the rewards which are sure to come.

I hate seeing Jacques in a crappy car like that... he
deserves to be on the McLaren or Ferrari team .... they should get rid of Barrichello or
Coulthard and put Villeneuve in one of those seats and see who kicks butt next year

Villeneuve has to get away from BAR because a talent so
great deserves more than they can offer. There is no doubt in my mind that he is a better
driver than Mika Hakkinen and would seriously challenge him if he raced against him in a
McLaren. Unfortunately it doesn't look like we're going to see that happen as David and
Mika look like staying put. Villeneuve has to get away quick and get back to winning ways
and if McLaren isn't an option I'd like to see him at Benetton or Williams with the latter
of those being pretty unlikely.
I never liked the decision of Jacques to move to BAR but I
supported him all the way and will continue to do so whatever he does. There is no
questioning the fact that Villeneuve gives everything on the track and never gives up and
I think it is about time that we see him back in a competitive car fighting until the end
for podium positions - Aoife K. - Ireland.
Jacques Villeneuve is one of the best drivers in Formula 1,
and yet he is driving a relatively under-powered car. But, he did finish as high as fourth
at one point this season.
Jacques deserves a better car and Benetton is a great
choice considering how well they are performing this year, thanks to Giancarlo Fisichella.
If he will be in Benetton next year , then I am sure that he has a great chance of
finishing in the podium once more, or even win a race - Ria R. - Philippines.
I think Jacques Villeneuve was overrated and only the
superior performance of the Williams he drove to win the title made him look so good. He
may as well stay with BAR as he can always blame the lack of performance on a sub standard
car. I don't think going to Benetton will make any difference to anything but his bank

I think Jacques Villeneuve made a mistake when he moved to
BAR especially that both BAR and Williams were running the same engine in 99. He might
have made an emotional decision back then and now it is hurting him. It is a pity that we
are not seeing him up there fighting with the Ferrari and McLaren drivers. At the moment
he is stuck and unless he moves to McLaren, all other options are worse than his current
team as all the other teams are going through major changes and BAR are certainly ahead in
that department. The only way he can go to McLaren is if Mika Hakkinen does retire as
rumoured but that is unlikely. Honda is getting it right and they are now getting involved
in the chassis side as well, I am sure that before the end of the year we will see a lot
of improvement. Of course he wasted so much time but that is all behind him now and it is
