Montoya was widely known for having
talent-ie winning CART/Formula 3000, Kimi, on the other hand was a
virtual unknown, and has performed outstandingly well for someone with
a lack of experience, whereas one would expect Montoya to be a title
challenger with all his credentials. In my opinion, Kimi has performed
better, he has a better attitude and focus, despite driving in one of
the 'middle' cars.im sure he will do even better next year, driving a

For those who thought Montoya was a
lousy driver, the results of last weekend (the Italian GP) should shut

From other comments, seems like if I
were a Colombian or American, I prefer Montoya and if I were a
Finnish, I prefer Kimi... As I am neutral I would say Montoya's anger
and over-confidence is his enemy. Kimi's disadvantage is his old
Ferrari engine. As a rookie, he has outperformed many experienced
driver included Nick Heidfeld.
Conclusion : Kimi is better rated than Montoya as a F1 driver.
We shall await for next year. MS is facing many threat... now F1 is getting
more interesting... we'll see Toyota .. hopefully not same fate as Jaguar

Raikkonen is far superior to Montoya in
driving style and attitude and I believe he will be a champion if he
gets himself into a better car although that Sauber is good lets see

I think Josiah M is right - give Kimi a
Ferrari and we will see. JPM reminds me of DC - charging down
like a bull, and in the process will wreck every car. He has
finished 2nd place twice - but for the rest, he blew his car.
Even when he is in the lead, he still blew his car. I think one
day, Kimi would be driving a Ferrari and join the world class - Joseph

They have both got a lot of talent but
it is obvious that Montoya hasn't got the right mentality to be a
champion as he can not remain focused on the task. There is no doubt
that Raikkonen will take over from Hakkinen as Finland's best driver
as he promises a lot more. However though Montoya is doing well at the
moment his time is already disappearing as a competent driver - Thomas
V - England.
I think Kimi has the skill and talent
to go as far as he wants. Montoya is just to angry to be
effective!! Kimi is proving he can handle the pressure... not just
from the races but he pressure he gets at home following in the
footsteps of the great Mika Hakkinen. As a young national hero
he is coping with it better than JPM!! Go Kimi Suomi loves ya!!

Both Montoya and Raikkonen are
excellent and promising rookies, although up to now Montoya clearly
outstands Raikkonen, taking into account points, pole positions and

Raikkonen has performed much better
than Montoya. Raikkonen being with a middle class team have got them
up with there getting points and more than they have ever been able to

Can you teach a racing horse to pull a
cart ? Both are new in F1(regardless of JPM testing in the past) but Montoya
has a big EGO, HE IS A NATIONAL HERO IN COLUMBIA, he came in F1 ring
to beat Schumy in the first race and his experience in CART and INDY
make him feeling like Senna. Kimi is learning, first to drive in the
ELITE, to overqualify his team-mate, to beat him and to score points.
But HE IS LEARNING, even his style is natural, HE LISTENS TO THE MORE EXPERIENCED
DRIVERS, HE IS LOOKING AT Schummy, Mika, Rubens, Ralf, J.V. and even
Jean ALESI and one day he might beat them. In the beginning of this
year you made a comparison between MS and JPM. Honestly very inappropriate.
Now Montoya and Kimi. Seems like JPM has a high depreciation rate (or
he was over appreciated). Next step will be Tarso Marques?!?!?!?! You
will decide, but for now I truly believe Kimi is the big rookie this

I believe Raikkonen has done better
than Montoya. Montoya needs to settle down and he could do much better

To me, Montoya seems a person who
assimilate and learn faster on his own mistakes so he will be such a
mature driver in few years. I think, next year he will visit Podium

Montoya is a fluke. His early season
comments that he "would kill anyone who got in his way" were
uncalled for and clearly non-professional. He should have been fired
at that moment and sent packing. I lost a lot of respect for Sir Frank
and the BMW company when they tolerated such childish and lowly-bred behaviour.
He is indeed a loose cannon, and I sincerely hope he doesn't ever get
his wish to "kill anyone" who gets in his way. Enough said.
F-1 remains a gentleman's sport despite this deviation. Oh, one last

I do not think Kimi is as good a driver
a JPM. However JPM's experience might have gotten the best of him in
the beginning. He was overdriving the car. Now if the two are compared
it is obvious to me who is the better driver. The Sauber is an
excellent car. It has what was possibly the most powerful engine from
last year. Their chassis is also quite balanced it seems. Mostly is
their reliability. If Jordan was more reliable Sauber would not have
much if any points. Kimi has had to drive a careful and consistent
race because he was on probation. I do not think MS is better than JPM.
MS has a whole team rallying around him and two countries. JPM is
considered the arrogant Columbian. His own team mate was attempting to
intimidate him because he was afraid he would be slower than the F1

Kimi Raikkonen is good, he is a driver
with skill and finesse and a world champion material (unless he goes
to some 3rd rate team like Jacques and he is fast too, a true
successor to Mika.
But no one cant write off Juan Pablo, the arrogance and aggression are
much needed to be a winner (Michael and Ayrton Senna). In the future
we'll see competition between Ralf, Juan Pablo and Kimi in a Ferrari -

I have never missed viewing any F1 race
in the last 2 years, and I have never seen an F1 rookie perform like
Kimi Raikkonen. His accomplishments in the season to this day is
most impressive given that he is driving a Sauber and not one of the
'super powers' of F1 such as Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams.
If he is impressive in an inferior car (compared with the big-budgeted
race clubs) one can just wonder what he can do if he was driving a
faster and better performing car.
Montoya is Montoya with his flair and experience. But Raikkonen is

The Sauber-Petronas has been more reliable
than the Williams but then on the other hand the Williams are able to
win races.
Personally I liked them both but I think that Montoya will be able in
the future to win something "Tittle" while Raikkonen will
always remain Schumy's shadow and Ferrari's life after Schumy seems

was compared with MS. Now he is compared with Raikkonen b'cos he is
too far behind MS. That shows, Montoya has spoiled his own rapo b'cos
of his aggressive and arrogant stunts and his incapability to complete
races. Raikkonen on the other hand has showed extreme responsibility
and skill in taking the Sauber to points. Its Obvious Kimi is better

Raikkonen impresses me more, partially
because he's driving a car much inferior to the Williams, but still
shows well, considering.
Montoya is like JV was-brash, and pushing too hard to prove he's 'got

There is no doubt in my mind that the
answer to this question is undeniably Kimi Raikkonen. This is only his
third season in racing so his is very inexperienced. Montoya has been
in racing since 1995 and he has been a CART champion all of which says
that he is an experienced racer. With Kimi's limited experience
(formula Renault for 2 years) a couple of people did not give him a
chance past the first corner of his first race while a couple of
people did not even think he would make it to the race. And what did
he do in his first race? He scores a point!!
Montoya is in front of Kimi in the championship but then, with his
wealth of experience, one would expect him to be. To be honest one
would have expected him to be up there with Ralf. After all he has a
Williams under him (same as Ralph and supposedly the most powerful
cars on the track bar none) and Kimi a Sauber (who are they? - so to
speak).
If one wants to go to statistics, which I don't really want to because
stats does not always tell the truth, keep the following in mind:
Montoya has 8 DNF's Kimi 3, Montoya has spun once and crashed 3 times
Kimi spun once. I am not saying that Kimi is a better driver, I just
think Kimi has impressed - Johan M - South Africa

Montoya has impressed me because of his results when I first heard Montoya
was coming i thought great another Zanardi twin, but he has proven me
wrong with his finishes, but don't forget Raikkonen is getting this
results in a slower, less powered and financially poorer Sauber team,
he has true talent we will never who is better unless they are in

Raikkonen did show an impressive driving
but he should be granted more powerful car to fly.
Montoya also has shown us his aggressiveness on the track, remember
when he ran behind those Ferraris.
The cars performance could be the main factor. But it's to early

Raikkonen is the better driver with 9
points in a Sauber to Montoya with 15 points in the much better
Williams. Kimi with less experience could become a world

I think the Colombian Montoya is more impressive than Kimi Raikkonen,
with 8 DNF out of 11 races, 2 of the 3 races on the podium (the other
finish was 4th place) and 6th place in the drivers championship, that
tells a lot while Raikkonen has 8 races completed out of 11 and stands
8th in the driver's championship. They are both young and
have a lot to learn but Montoya will clearly be a threat in the years

I like Montoya's aggressive style better, but one has to give it up to
Raikkonen's ability to pilot a formula 1 car. Considering Raikkonen's
less experience in the world of racing, I'd say he has impressed me
more than Montoya. Still, Montoya has shown us that he is not afraid
of competing against MS, or any other driver of the same (or almost
the same) calibre as MS when fighting for a position. So, we have to
wait and see what is Raikkonen's reaction going to be when faced with
duels, such as the one disputed by Montoya and MS back in the
Brazilian GP. Overall, they are both excellent pilots, otherwise they

Raikkonen has been more impressive. He has skill, talent and patience.
Montoya on the other hand had to depend on the speed of the BMW
Williams. He is also too aggressive and arrogant on the racing track.
