Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari team have already wrapped up both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships with 4 races remaining in the season. Michael Schumacher described it as a great team achievement

This season, Ferrari have built one of the most reliable cars there is on the grid and at the same time one of the fastest. Of the 26 starts so far this season, they only had 5 retirements (2 of which were accidents). Michael Schumacher has started from Pole 9 times out of 13 attempts and so far has won 7 races. Those achievements speak for themselves.

At the start of the season, everyone expected another 2 way fight for the Championship between Ferrari and McLaren. No one expected Williams to be as close as they have been. Inconsistency though didn't help neither McLaren nor Williams in taking the fight to Ferrari. McLaren were always on the back foot from the start of the season causing them to commit costly mistakes race after race. Williams have a strong package that need fine tuning to make their cars consistently last the distance.
While Ferrari were fast and reliable, their rivals appeared to struggle regularly giving away points to Ferrari which in the end saw them win both Titles with 4 races remaining.

Had the Title fight gone down to the wire in Suzuka, it certainly would have been more exciting but the consistency of the Ferrari team coupled with the lack of reliability from both McLaren and Williams led to both Championships being decided as early as the Hungarian Grand Prix.

What others are saying:

Michael Schumacher. For 8 years I have been transfixed by your driving. Every year you seem more determined to win. I can see that determination runs in the family. Ferrari you have been taken to the top of your sport by the best driver in the sport. Sydney Australia you should show more F1 coverage - Sultan W - Sydney - Australia

Well, with an excellent team and all back up from FIA and Bernie, Ferrari really deserves the constructor title. With all that, most importantly with full support from the second driver (RB), Schummy also well deserves the driver title. This should be an important lesson for McLaren to be able to start a better season next year - Wayan - Bali - Indonesia

What can you say. Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari team have been head and shoulders above the competition this year, other than a couple of races when Williams were their main competition. Next year however is a completely new start. I can hardly wait.!!!! - The Meanest - New Zealand

EXCELLENT JOB SCHUMY... YOU ARE THE KING OF THE FORMULA ONE RACING... WAY TO GO MAN... LOOKING FORWARD FOR NEXT YEAR'S TITLE (GOD WILLING) - Mohamed Y - Lebanon

What a great victory for Ferrari and Schumy
It was quite emotional during the anthem when he was nearly in tears
As far as the season is concerned it has been a Schumy's walk all over one with McLaren not being able to put any charge and Williams still developing

Arrows on Ford Cosworth  "smiling faces!!!!" - Rob - Australia

How many World Championships would Schumacher have won if he were doing battle with Senna, Prost, Mansell, Piquet, Patrese etc. every race?  While I applaud his accomplishments, let's face it, his competition hasn't been in the 1980's category.  What?  Did you say Damon Hill?  David Coulthard?  haha - Michael M - USA

Well Ferrari has done 110 percent of F1 racing, but Ferrari also should thanks DC for his bad driving, McLaren for sleepy season, and finally Erja who gave Hakkinen his child. Finally I can only tell that some fans should realise that this is the best performance from a team in F1 racing (M.S. & R.B & J.T. & Ferrari guys).
Keep on with the fantastic work Ferrari! You're the best - Igor I - Macedonia

Well I have to admit that it was a well deserved win for Michael and Ferrari. but I can rest assure that for next year our DC will give Ferrari a tough year!! well done Ferrari!! but FORZA MCLAREN!!!! - Hubert Z - Malta

Absolutely brilliant, that's all one can say for Michael and Ferrari. However, not the best thing for F1 in general. It might have been nicer to see the title being decided at Suzuka.

Deutchland Ubber Alles - Stephan G - New Zealand

Congratulations to Scuderia Ferrari. Now Michael should help Rubens to be runner up of the year - George L - Costa Rica

I think that it is fantastic that Ferrari and Michael have won both titles, but it would have been a better season if both McLaren and Williams had not suffered from reliability issues as it would have been an even sweeter victory if Ferrari were able to beat them at their best. Also can't forget the wonderful achievements of Rubens Barrichello, who, through consistently coming on the podium, helped Ferrari achieve that third constructors title - Bree W - Australia.

Many congratulations to Michael, Reuben and Ferrari for winning both titles in style.  While Michael's achievements are obvious for all to see, Reuben should be especially proud of himself as without his contributions, it would not have been possible for Ferrari to wrap up the Constructor's title so early.  Well done everyone at Ferrari - Li - Singapore.

I am very happy!!!!!!!!!!

For 2nd place I see a fight between Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher
It would be interesting to see how Montoya goes at Indy

FORZA FERRARI - Frank - England

F1 fans always want to see history in the making such as Michael's ability to win grand prix and slowly gaining into the elite circle of F1 greats. Many congratulations to Michael and the Ferrari team. I believe that it is really the team that made everything possible. Take away one component in the team and it will be altogether different with a different outcome.
Nevertheless, it would be nice to see other excellent drivers challenge for the title:  the likes of DC, Kimi Raikkonen, Ralf, Juan Pablo and the others in the younger breed.  Fierce battles for the title will definitely be very good for the sport in general and F1 in particular. We just hope that other constructors improve on their engines' developments and reliability so that their drivers can challenge Michael for the next season.
I am a through and through, die hard Michael Schumacher fan, but it does not hurt a bit to see other deserving drivers win the championship. Competition always excites the fans, regardless of the outcome other than mechanical troubles, retirements, etc - Manny P - Philippines

"VENI,VIDI,VICI" is the old Latin warrior saying. Ferrari won. Michael won too. It is a great achievement for the team and for each individual too, even we don t know all of them. But I believe  the main catalizator in this chemistry is Michael Schumacher. The team was designed around his alure, around his ego, around everything which is "SCHUMMY". I know will be a lot of questions regarding legitimacy of the title (ie-Why TCS wasn't allowed in first 4 races? Why team ordered to Barrichello to let Michael 1-st place? ,etc) Regardless what other driver, team director or sports commentator said in the past, present or future, Michael is a living history, and near his crown, Ferrari regain and consolidated a lost kingdom in the racing world. I bet "IL COMMENDATORE" will be proud of his prancing horse and will start to push for more, for better, for faster. I bet he will say "IT'S GOOD BUT WE CAN DO BETTER". Before Hungary I had mixed feelings, regarding SCHUMMY behaviour on the track, because we saw Michael screwing up in final moments several times, but now what I need and I wish is what is called show .Let's see Schummy and Barry enjoying races without fear. Let's see Ferrari giving to the people "PANEM ET CIRCUS".
Thanks Ferrari, Thanks Michael, Rubins, Jean, Ross, Rory and comp for their time spend with us. Thanks friends and foes from Formula one Circus for everything shared with us. My best regards, Marian - Romanian living in the USA

I feel privileged to be a witness to the greatest racing driver ever and despite the fact he has yet to reach Fangio's record of five championships. Michael Schumacher posses not only the skill and ability to surpass this record but also the determination and correct attitude. All I can say is the best of luck to him and long may he continue to transfix us to the marvellous sport that is Formula One - Tom - England

Well !!! Congratulations to Ferrari and Schumi !!!! great work !!
As far as McLaren well !!! it was a bad year !!!! like the Ferrari's had it for 20 years McLaren had it this year !!! so I am sure next year ..its going to be a real proving year ...becoz the McLaren fans have waited for 2 years and can wait no more !!!
so cheers McLaren team, have a break and GET GOING NEXT YEAR ....MAKE SURE U MAKE US PROUD AND WE ARE ALWAYS BACKING YOU WHATEVER MAY COME !!

CHEERS TO BIG MCLAREN MERCEDES  !!!! - KarmagoD - USA

Happy and proud to watch history being made and records broken at Hungaroring. Sure, We are watching the best performance from a driver, realistically there is none to break it in the next decade. Strong performance made it look like there is no competition at all - GOP - India
