The 2008 8 'n' Pole competition was won by Texancow ahead of microsystem and Damo. Check out the results of the competition here.

The 8 'n' Pole Competition returns for the 2009 Formula 1 Season in the same format and as in 2008 and with exciting prizes.
In addition to the major prizes, all the players in the overall top 20 will win prizes as well as the winner of every round.
In addition, the player with highest score in a round and the player with the biggest winning margin in a round will also win additional prizes.

There is also a prize for the perfect pick. If a player picks the top 8 finishers as well as pole in the exact order, they win a 100 British Pounds Gift Certificate from BookF1).

You can register now. Once registered, you can submit your picks for any race of the season at any time as long as you place your picks before the event starts.

8 'n' Pole is an exciting competition where you get to pick the top 8 finishers for each Grand Prix in addition to the Pole setter.

Registering before the start of the season will maximise your chances of winning the overall competition. However, you can still register during the season and attempt to maximise your score per race as the winner from each race wins a prize. You can also win in the categories of highest score in a round and biggest winning margin in a round.

The way the competition works is simple. During the week before a Grand Prix, you will receive a "Call for Picks" email. Before the start of the first Friday Practice session, you'll need to place your picks. You can submit your picks at any time prior to this deadline.
You will receive an email confirmation of your picks. Following the race you will receive an email with your score and your ranking both for the race and overall in the competition. Click here to learn about the rules and scoring.

If you have a group of friends, you can create a group and ask them to join. Results for the group will be sent to each member.

In 2005 we've launched NewsOnF1 Forums with a forum dedicated to the 8 'n' Pole competition. There you can discuss with other players of the competition your picks, your results and anything else you'd like to talk about. You can automatically be registered in the Forum simply by checking the box in the 8 'n' Pole registration form.

Prizes:

While the aim of this competition is to challenge your prediction skills and see how accurately you can predict the outcome of each race of the 2009 Formula 1 season, we are providing a number of prizes for the top scorers in the competition thanks to BookF1, first Choice For Grand Prix Tickets and The Pitstop Bookshop, the specialist motoring bookshop.

Entering the competition is free but we would appreciate it if you consider NewsOnF1 when looking for Formula 1 Tours, Tickets, Merchandise or Books. You can check out our Shopping Page. This ensures that we keep the competition going and makes our sponsors happy!

In 2009 we will be awarding the following prizes:

A Second Prize of $100 Australian dollars (Gift Certificate from The Pitstop Bookshop) to the second placed player in the competition overall.

A Third Prize of $50 US Dollars Gift Certificate from a choice of suppliers to the third placed player in the competition overall.

The player with the highest score in a round (out of all rounds) and the biggest winning margin in a round (out of all rounds) each will win a NewsOnF1 Professional Binoculars (8x21mm magnification) with pouch.
The winner in each round wins a NewsOnF1 Compact Smart Digital Clock with Alarm. If a player wins more than once, they would receive an alternate prize for each of their wins.
