29-Feb: Heavy rain has affected the shakedown testing at Silverstone, Jaguar, Jordan, Benetton, Williams and Prost were present. Fastest of the day was Jaguar's test driver Luciano Burti who clocked a best time of 1:40.52, he also did the most number of laps at 23. Second fastest was Jarno Trulli with a time of 1:41.72, he did a total of 16 laps. Alexander Wurz was 3rd with a time of 1:42.18 and 19 laps. Jenson Button was 4th with a time of 1:42.64 and Nick Heidfeld did a few laps with no time recorded. The shakedown tests continue tomorrow with McLaren, BAR and Arrows expected to join the rest of the field.

29-Feb: Michael Schumacher completes the long run test today after being delayed for one day waiting for new components. He did a total of 67 laps and a best time of 1:25.388. Schumacher now moves to Fiorano for a final test session before the Melbourne GP.

28-Feb: Michael Schumacher and Ferrari have delayed the long run test until tomorrow as they needed to make some changes to some components of the car. Schumacher still managed 16 laps with a best time of 1:24.968. Schumacher continues testing at Mugello tomorrow. Minardi was also present at the Mugello track , Gaston Mazzacane did a total of 31 laps with a best time of 1:28.666. Meanwhile most of the other F1 teams are preparing for the final shakedown at Silverstone which starts tomorrow for 2 days. Stay tuned for the latest news and results.

27-Feb: Michael Schumacher took over the testing duties at Mugello today. He concentrated on car setup and aerodynamics. He completed a total of 71 laps with a best time of 1:24.705 which is a new lap record at the Mugello circuit, 0.15 seconds faster than the earlier record set by Schumacher on the 18th of February. Schumacher continues testing at the circuit tomorrow with a long run test.

26-Feb: It appears that the string of lap records that Arrows managed to put in at Barcelona last week have brought them a major sponsor to the team. This has caused the launch of the new car to be delayed due to a livery change. It will be launched later this week.

26-Feb: Rubens Barrichello continued testing the second F1-2000 chassis at Mugello, he completed a long run of 83 laps with a best time of 1:25.680. Michael Schumacher joined Barrichello later in the day after spending most of the day at Fiorano practicing starts in the F399. At Fiorano he completed 30 laps with a best time of 1:01.188, while at Mugello, he completed 6 laps with a best time of 1:25.554.

25-Feb: The last day of testing at Jerez saw the Jaguar duo (Eddie Irvine 1:23.219 and Johnny Herbert 1:23.302) set the fastest times ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella (1:23.467), Jarno Trulli (1:23.693) and Pedro Diniz (1:23.794). In the 1:24 bracket was David Coulthard (1:24.095), Alexander Wurz (1:24.230), Ralf Schumacher (1:24.562), Olivier Panis (1:24.580) and Jacques Villeneuve (1:24.718). Bruno Junqueria clocked 1:25.342 and Nick Heidfeld in the Prost was last with a time of 1:26.676. Olivier Panis covered the most laps, he did 90 laps followed by Fisichella with 86 and Villeneuve with 85. Eddie Irvine made the least number of laps, he did 40 followed by Heidfeld with 42 and Wurz with 51 laps. Next week the teams will shakedown their 2000 contenders at Silverstone and head to Melbourne for the start of the season.

25-Feb: Rubens Barrichello continued testing the second F1-2000 chassis at Mugello, he completed a total of 42 laps with a best time of 1:24.997. Michael Schumacher spent the day at Fiorano practicing starts on the F399, he did 20 laps with a best time of 1:01.991. Barrichello continues testing at Mugello tomorrow to be joined by Schumacher in the afternoon.

24-Feb: Rubens Barrichello tested the second F1-2000 chassis at Mugello for the first time today, he completed a total of 23 laps with a best time of 1:25.742. Barrichello continues testing at Mugello tomorrow while Schumacher starts testing at Fiorano.

24-Feb: On the second day of testing at Jerez, Olivier Panis has clocked the fastest time at 1:23.9 ahead of David Coulthard (1:24.0) and Eddie Irvine (1:24.2). Giancarlo Fisichella was the only other driver to clock a time in the 1:24's. He was followed by Ralf Schumacher, Pedro Diniz, Johnny Herbert, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Jean Alesi, Jacques Villeneuve who all clocked a time in the 1:25's. Bruno Junqueira clocked a time of 1:26.9 followed by Jarno Trulli with a time of 1:27.7. In terms of the number of laps covered, it was Jacques Villeneuve who covered the most laps with 91 laps, Fisichella was second with 80 laps and Diniz was third with 75 laps. As for the least number of laps, Trulli only managed 7 laps followed by Herbert with 24 and Frentzen on 40 and Irvine on 41. Testing concludes at Jerez tomorrow.

23-Feb: The all important Jerez tests have started today with McLaren, Jordan, BAR, Jaguar, Prost, Williams, Benetton and Sauber all present. Heinz Harald Frentzen set the fastest time  of 1:23.535 which is less than half a second slower than the lap record set by Herbert in the Jaguar on the 16th of December. Mika Hakkinen was 2nd (1:24.452) and Olivier Panis was 3rd (1:25.056). Eddie Irvine (1:25.468), Ralf Schumacher (1:25.829) and Ricardo Zonta (1:26.158) make the top 6. Jean Alesi (1:26.181), Pedro Diniz (1:26.295), Johnny Herbert (1:26.544), Alex Wurz (1:26.642) and Giancarlo Fisichella (1:27.196) make up the rest of the field. Testing continues tomorrow.

22-Feb: On the last day of testing at Barcelona, Pedro de la Rosa has shattered the lap record reducing it by a further 0.6 seconds from the time he set back on the 13th of February. This certainly indicates the potential of the new Arrows which is powered by the Supertec engine, it could be one of the surprise packages this season. Marc Gene in the Minardi was the only other driver testing at the circuit, he set a time of 1:21.60.  Testing starts tomorrow at Jerez with McLaren, Jordan, BAR and Jaguar.

21-Feb: Minardi and Arrows continued testing at Barcelona today. Jos Verstappen completed a total of 93 laps and a best time of 1:20.36, his team-mate Pedro de la Rosa did not test today due to problems with his car's gearbox, he is scheduled to test tomorrow. Marc Gene was second fastest with a time of 1:22.77 followed by Gaston Mazzacane with a time of 1:23.80.

20-Feb: Rubens Barrichello is getting more comfortable in the F1-2000, he completed a full race simulation doing 84 laps with a best time of 1:24.99. This time is only 0.15 seconds slower than the best time set by Schumacher 2 days ago. Ferrari have concluded testing at Mugello. At Barcelona, McLaren, Jordan and Jaguar have concluded testing while Minardi, Arrows and Prost remain. Marc Gene clocked the fastest time of this testing session with a time of 1:21.48, he was followed by Verstappen (1:21.70) and Heidfeld (1:23.27). Mazzacane and de la Rosa make the top 5. The Prost team continues to struggle with major problems with Gearbox and electronics, Heidfeld only managed 22 laps while Alesi didn't do any timed laps.
