The 2005 8 'n' Pole competition was yet again a close and exciting one. Check out the results of the competition here.

You can also check out the 2005 8 'n' Pole Championship Thread on the forums and read what the players said about the 2005 season.

The 8 'n' Pole Competition will return for the 2006 Formula 1 Season. We will launch the competition prior to the start of the season and announce the prizes and any rule changes (if any).

You can register for the competition at anytime. Once registered, you will receive and email from us at the time of the 2006 competition launch.

8 'n' Pole is an exciting competition where you get to pick the top 8 finishers for each Grand Prix in addition to the Pole setter.

Registering before the start of the season will maximise your chances of winning the overall competition. However, you can still register during the season and attempt to maximise your score per race as the winner from each race wins a prize. You can also win in the categories of highest score in a round and biggest winning margin in a round.

The way the competition works is simple. During the week before a Grand Prix, you will receive a "Call for Picks" email. Before the start of the first Friday Practice session, you'll need to place your picks. You can submit your picks at any time prior to this deadline.
You will receive an email confirmation of your picks. Following the race you will receive an email with your score and your ranking both for the race and overall in the competition. Click here to learn about the rules and scoring.

If you have a group of friends, you can create a group and ask them to join. Results for the group will be sent to each member.

In 2005 we've launched NewsOnF1 Forums with a forum dedicated to the 8 'n' Pole competition. There you can discuss with other players of the competition your picks, your results and anything else you'd like to talk about. You can automatically be registered in the Forum simply by checking the box in the 8 'n' Pole registration form.

While the aim of this competition is to challenge your prediction skills and see how accurately you can predict the outcome of each race of the 2005 Formula 1 season, we are providing a number of prizes for the top scorers in the competition thanks to Sportsnet Holidays, famous for sensational sports holidays, BookF1, first Choice For Grand Prix Tickets and The Pitstop Bookshop, the specialist motoring bookshop.

Entering the competition is free but we would appreciate it if you consider NewsOnF1 when looking for Formula 1 Tours, Tickets, Merchandise or Books. You can check out our Shopping Page. This ensures that we keep the competition going and makes our sponsors happy!

In 2005 we will be awarding the following prizes:

A Grand Prize of $500 Australian (Gift Certificate from Sportsnet Holidays to be used towards a 2006 Grand Prix Tour) to the overall winner of the competition

A Second Prize of 100 British Pounds (Gift Certificate from BookF1 to be used towards a 2006 Grand Prix ticket) to the second placed player in the competition overall.

A Third Prize of 50 British Pounds (Gift Certificate from BookF1 to be used towards a 2006 Grand Prix ticket) to the third placed player in the competition overall.

A Fourth Prize of $50 Australian dollars (Gift Certificate from The Pitstop Bookshop) to the fourth placed player in the competition overall.

Fifth to Eighth in the competition overall each wins a NewsOnF1 AM/FM pocket radio.
The player with the highest score in a round (out of all rounds) and the biggest winning margin in a round (out of all rounds) each will win a NewsOnF1 Professional Binoculars (8x21mm magnification) with pouch.
The winner in each round wins a NewsOnF1 Compact Smart Digital Clock with Alarm. If a player wins more than once, they would receive an alternate prize for each of their wins.
In case of a tie in a round, the earliest entry submitted for that round wins. Those carrying over picks from a previous round will be considered last in case of a tie.
