Hi All : Very nice pre-season so far. The big surprise is BAR! The fight for the "Also Ran" cars is very tough this year. You have the top 4 teams with Ferrari the favorite!
Sad that the British press is still talking about BMW Engines as the most powerful. Is it a fear of the Germans? What angle is at work here. The Ferrari Engines were the most powerful and had the best drivablity for the last 5 years running! The Titles speak for themselves! The aero bit have helped but like it was 10 years ago with Renault Engines and 20 years ago with Honda Engines; Horsepower and drivability of an engine are all important!
For once I would like to see the truth that the Ferrari Engines are the most powerful and coupled with the finest chassis; are quite simply the best cars running. Williams does have a good engine and a very good chassis because of an Ex-Ferrari Aerodynamics Engineer in charge! It seems the real story is all the exceptionally brilliant Engineers from the Ferrari Team helping and lifting the other teams! Toyota (Ex-Ferrari Engine Man & Chassis Engineers), Williams (Ex-Ferrari Chassis and Aerodynamics Engineers), McLaren (Ex-Ferrari Engineers)! The list goes on and on!
It will be a fight between the Champion (FERRARI!) and in the following order : Williams, Renault, McLaren, Bar, Sauber, Toyota, and the others! The scare and ill anticipated steps made by the other teams last year have certainly caused Ferrari to do what it does best! Build the best car possible given the rules limitations. Look at their car closely and you start to see the the design theories brought to bear! No sharp edges!
It is a winner if ever I saw one! talk to you soon, Frank P - USA (Reference Heretic 6-1 - Another Year for the Prancing Horse ?)

The Heretic replies:

Frank,

Yes, a lot of the Ferrari team have been lured away by other teams but the same is true for all the leading teams. Jordan went south in a couple of seasons due to losing their best people.

I am starting to think that there are just not enough experts to build the entire field so the musical jobs this will keep on going on.

There is no evidence to argue against your obvious bias towards Ferrari. They are a good team and have certainly built the fastest cars in recent seasons. I have no reason to think that this would have changed, in fact I am sure that the car has a good chance to be as good as before.

We will never know who has the most powerful engines, but as you say, drivability of the engines is equally as important. Rumour and innuendo had it that BMW produced the most raw power last year, but if this was true then why did Toyota post so many top speeds?

There is one thing that you are overlooking: Bridgestone.

They came pretty close to costing Ferrari the season last year and could do it this year. If Ferrari were also on Michelins I would rate their chances much higher.
