RE Schumacher/Montoya incident.
The man behind has the responsibility to be aware of what the man in front is doing regardless of who they are. In an on-street accident, the one in back is always responsible as it is in racing. All of the driver interviewees said that.
How can you disagree. Are you a Montoya fan? Ed F (Reference Heretic 6-6 - I don't want to rain on Trulli's parade but ...)

The Heretic replies:

Hi Ed,

No I am not a Montoya fan.

What we have seen over the years from Michael is that he always thinks and plans. Why then did he not see the risk of braking in the tunnel?

Whether it is the responsibility of the following car to avoid accidents or not, Montoya tried his best to avoid hitting Michael. Maybe he should have been further back but the race was about to restart and he wanted to stay in touch.

Sure Montoya was caught by surprise. Sure he should not have been so close or so late to brake. But a sudden stop in a tight dark area of the track was probably not expected.

I agree that it was his fault.

I am still surprised that Michael did not weigh up the risks before he locked up in the tunnel. It is not that there was no safer place to do it. He may be in the right but to me it was a rare oversight on his part. If I were Michael I would blame myself.
