12 October: The British Grand Prix at Silverstone is expected to appear on the 2005 Formula 1 Calendar as provisional following successful negotiations between the BRDC and Bernie Ecclestone. Whilst no contract has been signed, it does appear that the British GP will make it on the calendar. 
Britain's Sports minister Richard Caborn was heavily involved in bringing the two parties together. The minister is hopeful the race will be held next year. He said "I am very hopeful that the British Grand Prix will be on the calendar for next year even though it may be subject to contract.
I am also hopeful that we will get a two-year deal which will allow us to sit down and plan to realise the full potential of the Silverstone estate."

The 2005 Formula 1 Schedule is expected to be announced tomorrow by the FIA. The French and San Marino events are also expected to be included on a provisional basis. The Turkish Grand Prix is expected to be the latest addition to the calendar.

FIA President Max Mosley is also hopeful that an agreement can be reached. Speaking to the BBC he said "I hope and think in the end a solution will be found and it (the British Grand Prix) will be on as usual.
It is important for me that traditional races stay on the calendar, but not at any price.
We cannot say to Bernie: 'Keep the event because of tradition'.
But a compromise should be found because it is part of the basis of motorsport. Take that away and you start to undermine the whole structure of F1.
