Second Friday Practice Session Report - Results

David Coulthard set the fastest time of the session ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya and a surprise Allan McNish. Ralf Schumacher, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen make the top 6.
Rubens Barrichello was back in 7th place ahead of Jenson Button, Jacques Villeneuve and Pedro de la Rosa.

It was a typical Friday practice session with the teams running different programs. We do not know what fuel loads the teams were running so it is hard to see how the top teams compare. However having Allan McNish running 3rd definitely indicates a low fuel load.
Both Villeneuve and de la Rosa are surprisingly high given that their cars weren't competitive in Malaysia while both Felipe Massa and Nick Heidfeld are down in 17th and 18th.

This session (like the morning session) had a large number of drivers spin including Takuma Sato, Rubens Barrichello, Allan McNish and Michael Schumacher. They all managed to recover though.
Jarno Trulli continues to experience problems with his new team. His car stopped at the pit exit and he couldn't continue.

There were 7 drivers who set lap times in the 1:15's, 5 of them on Michelin tyres. In fact only 3 Bridgestone runners managed to make it into the top 10.
11 drivers set lap times in the 1:16's, 3 drivers in the 1:17's and 1 driver in the 1:18's. The teams here appear very close especially in the mid-field.

Giancarlo Fisichella covered the most number of laps this session with 27 followed by Olivier Panis and Alex Yoong with 25 laps each. Michael Schumacher and Mark Webber covered 25 laps each.
Jarno Trulli only managed 3 laps while Heinz Harald Frentzen only managed 16 and Eddie Irvine only covered 17 laps. All other drivers covered between 18 and 24 laps.

Overall, it was Mark Webber who covered 48 laps followed by Allan McNish and Giancarlo Fisichella with 47 laps each. Jarno Trulli did the least amount of laps today with 22 while Kimi Raikkonen and Rubens Barrichello only did 26 laps.

It will be interesting to see how the teams shape tomorrow after qualifying when it really counts.
