Warm-up Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher set the fastest time of the session over half a second faster than a surprise Pedro de la Rosa in second place with Kimi Raikkonen in 3rd.
Ralf Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya and Rubens Barrichello made the top 6.
Coulthard was 7th fastest ahead of Frentzen, McNish and Bernoldi.

The session was interrupted with Enrique Bernoldi in the Arrows crashing heavily and flames erupting from the back of the car. As the medical car arrived, Nick Heidfeld in the Sauber hit the medical car. Luckily no one was injured but the incident will certainly be investigated.

The warm-up session usually provides a bit of insight on how the teams may be going with regard to their pit stop strategy. It appears as though Michael Schumacher was lapping with lower fuel loads and so was Pedro de la Rosa, Heinz Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi. They might be opting for a 2 stop strategy.
The Williams drivers as well as the McLaren drivers and Rubens Barrichello could be going for a single stop.
The track conditions can also confuse the times set here as the session was run under relatively low track temperatures compared to what is expected this afternoon.

Giancarlo Fisichella covered the most number of laps with 18 followed by Michael Schumacher with 16. Ralf Schumacher covered the least number of laps with 6 although it didn't appear that they had any problems while Takuma Sato only managed 7 laps as he continued to struggle in the Jordan setting the slowest time of the session.

Race starts at 2:00 PM local time. Our coverage starts at 1:30 PM local time.
