First Friday Practice Session Report - Results

Rubens Barrichello set the fastest time of the session ahead of team-mate Michael Schumacher. Nick Heidfeld was third but over 1.2 seconds off the pace with Allan McNish, Felipe Massa and David Coulthard making the top 6.

Heinz Harald Frentzen managed 7th with Giancarlo Fisichella in 8th ahead of Mika Salo and Juan Pablo Montoya.
Of the other top runners, Ralf Schumacher only managed 14th while Kimi Raikkonen was down in 16th.
At the back was Alex Yoong in his usual place while Webber in 21st is very close to the 2 Jaguars ahead of him.

Enrique Bernoldi had a couple of spins during the session, the last one he ended in the barrier ending his session. Takuma Sato had a technical problem and stopped on the track.

Olivier Panis covered the most number of laps with 27 followed by Pedro de la Rosa and Felipe Massa with 24 laps each.
Kimi Raikkonen covered the least number of laps with 9 while both Takuma Sato and Enrique Bernoldi only managed 12 laps each.

Although this is only the first practice session, the midfield is very tight with just 0.192 seconds separating 7th and 13th! They are over 2 seconds slower than the Ferraris though!

If Ferrari retain the advantage they are having here, then the Heretic's and the Quali-flyer's predictions could be spot on. From the moment a Ferrari set a flying lap, no other driver managed to get close to them. It could be though that they've found a good set-up straight away while the rest are still trying.
