Second Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher and Ferrari continue to dominate with Rubens Barrichello in 2nd. David Coulthard was 3rd ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Heinz Harald Frentzen. Ralf Schumacher was the best of the Michelin runners in 7th ahead of Olivier Panis. Enrique Bernoldi was in 9th ahead of Mika Hakkinen.

The track was still damp in several areas even though it was not raining, the low temperature didn't help dry the track. Towards the end of the session a few drivers went out on dry tyres but their times were actually slower than their times set on intermediates.

Luciano Burti was not allowed (by his team) to use the spare car during this session as his car was still being worked on following his crash in the first session. Eddie Irvine had problems in the second session and only managed 5 laps. Giancarlo Fisichella and Mika Hakkinen only covered 7 laps while Jacques Villeneuve only did 8. Jos Verstappen making up for lost time yesterday covered the most number of laps this session with 17 laps. Jean Alesi and Kimi Raikkonen covered 16 laps each. Most other drivers covered between 10 and 15 laps.

The weather is expected to remain dry and the temperatures expected to go up slightly. This will make qualifying interesting as the conditions will be a lot different from what they were during practice.
