First Saturday Practice Session Report - Results

Ferrari continued their domination with Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher the only drivers to set a time under the 1:19 mark. The surprise was that Barrichello managed a time that was almost 0.4 seconds better than his team-mate. Can he keep it up in Qualifying ?

David Coulthard and Ralf Schumacher were 3rd and 4th while the Sauber pair were in 5th and 6th. Raikkonen managed 7th fastest while Button who was third fastest could only manage 8th ahead of Montoya and Bernoldi.
Frentzen who was second fastest at the end of the practice on Friday was 12 while Trulli is back in 15th place.

The session was stopped for a few minutes when Mark Webber lost his front wing on the main straight. He managed to control the car and take it back to the pits. It is believed he was trying a new front wing.
There were no other major incidents although Sato spun but managed to recover and McNish stalled while attempting a practice start at the end of the pit lane.

Takuma Sato covered the most number of laps with 16 followed by Eddie Irvine with 14 and Enrique Bernoldi with 13. Mark Webber only managed 4 laps while McNish only 6. All other drivers covered between 7 and 12 laps.
Eddie Irvine was the only driver not to improve on his time from yesterday indicating that he was definitely running a light fuel load when he managed 11th fastest.
