Second Friday Practice Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari team dominated the second Friday practice session. Michael was over half a second clear of his team-mate Rubens Barrichello while Ralf Schumacher  who only improved his time from the morning on his last flying lap was third just under 0.9 seconds off the pace.
Kimi Raikkonen was 4th ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato.

The Williams team appear to be struggling here as both Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya were outside the top 10 for most of the session and Ralf Schumacher only managed to jump into 3rd on his final timed lap before the end of the session.

Almost all the drivers had some kind of an off on the slippery track, most were able to recover however the Sauber team-mates Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa both went off and crashed into the barriers while Juan Pablo Montoya got stuck in the gravel towards the end of the session. Jacques Villeneuve had a big off and damaged his car causing him to lose valuable track time.

F1 debutant Anthony Davidson had an impressive first day after setting a time that was faster than that of his team-mate Mark Webber however it isn't clear if he had a lot of fuel on board when setting his best time.

Mark Webber covered the most number of laps this session with 26 followed by Ralf Schumacher with 25 laps. Jacques Villeneuve only managed 10 laps while Nick Heidfeld only covered 11 laps before his crash.

The second session saw the Michelin runners close the gap to the Bridgestone runners however they were still far behind the pace of the Ferraris.

Ferrari are looking good for qualifying while McLaren and Williams have a lot of work to do to try and catch up!
