Warm-up Session Report - Results

Michael Schumacher demonstrated the dominance he showed on Friday by setting the fastest time of the session over a second faster than Mika Hakkinen in second place. Kimi Raikkonen was third ahead of Ralf Schumacher, Eddie Irvine and Heinz Harald Frentzen. The session was stopped in the last minute after Fernando Alonso had a massive shunt at Stavelot. Alonso walked out of the car and appears to be OK. He will undergo medical checks as a precaution.

Jarno Trulli hit the barrier early in the session and had to walk back to the pits and use the spare. Mika Hakkinen had an off and had to pit to get his car checked out.

The Arrows pair of Verstappen and Bernoldi covered the most number of laps with 13 each while Jenson Button failed to set a timed lap appearing on the track in the final two minutes and forced to abandon his only flying lap due to the red flag situation. Rubens Barrichello also appeared to be having some problems as he only set his timed laps with 5 minutes to go. He covered a total of 6 laps. All other drivers covered between 8 and 12 laps.

As usual, the warm-up times do not give much information especially that this race could be a single or a two stop strategy. It seems that Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen are planning for 2 stops while Barrichello, Coulthard and the Williams pair are planning for a single stop. Also the pace of the Sauber's and the Prost of Frentzen indicates 2-stops while BAR and Benetton might be planning for a single stop. Of course if the track is conditions are changeable all this could change.!

Race starts at 2:00 PM local time. Go to the Live Update page for live coverage during the Race.
